SMD Assembly

SMT and SMD can be easily mistaken for one another because of their similar acronyms but, they are actually two separarate parts of the printed circuit assembly process.

Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is the method through which SMC (Surface Mounted Components) are assembled directly onto the surface of the PCB (Printed Circuit Board), allowing both sides to be used.Electronic components made in this fashion are known as SMD or (Surface-Mount Devices). In industry it has been replacing the through-hole assembly method in which the the components are placed with terminals that have been placed through holes in the circuit board, allowing only one side to be used.

An SMT component is usually smaller than its through-hole counterpart because it has smaller terminals or sometimes none. The terminals also vary in format, with flat contacts, ball grid arrays (BGA) or terminators on the main part of the component.

Since SMD Systems always strives to use the latest in available technology, we are equipped with three completely automated SMT assembly lines so that we can satisfy the orders of our clients quickly and efficiently.
